SILVER STRIKERS CLUB COIN CONTEST Starts October 1, 2014

Now is your opportunity to design a Silver Strike. The contest begins Oct. 1, 2014 and closes Dec. 15, 2014. Contest rules are posted at the top of the Current News Page on the clubs website (www.silverstrikers.com) if you do not have a computer and would like a set of rules please call Al Lukacs (941-792-6479) and they will be sent to you. To enter, send your design to Al Lukacs either by email or USPS. Your Name, Club membership number and if you would like your drawing computer enhanced that should be on your drawing. Jo Riefer will do the enhancement and return the drawing to you for approval or make changes. Your FINAL DESIGN must be sent BY YOU to Al Lukacs.

Mirage Strike Machines

The Venetian/Palazzo has removed (3) Silver Strike Machines from there floors, So they are now back to having one strike machine in the Venetian and one strike machine in the Palazzo.  The 3 line machine was one of the machines that was removed.

GOOD NEWS !!!

I have nine orders for coins and no coins. So here's the deal, we are going to have a pre-sale to mint 25 more coins. We need at least nine (9) more orders and we will mint more.

I will hold all checks for 30 days or until we get enough orders to mint.  On Sept. seventh (7th) I will return all checks if we don't get nine more orders.

That's it, cut and dried !! Written in stone !!

Message from the President

Al Lukacs has requested reinstatement to his Office of Secretary.  I have granted his request and his appointment becomes effective immediately.  Al will also resume his Chairmanship of the Club Coin Committee. Al is once again the primary contact for the club. Welcome back, Al.

The first half of this year has been a difficult time for many of our Board Members and many things happen "behind the scenes" that most of the membership are unaware of.

On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Club, I want to thank Jeff and Sue Bitzer and Jo Reifer. Jeff not only performed his regular duties, but jumped into the Acting Secretary position on very short notice at a difficult time.  Sue Bitzer also was a huge help on this years coin as was Jo Reifer, who still did what she could. The reason the club has this years coin is because of these folks.

The Board is getting good at "switching jobs" as it becomes necessary, sometimes on the fly. Judy Barton did a great job covering for Jimmy Mahan during the Jimmy and Eddie show. That was a difficult job with some big shoes to fill.

There are many others who helped make our recent club events a great success.  The newsletter will be published soon with all the news from Las Vegas.

We now have a total of 5 games (Strike Machines) as of this morning.  4 at the Venetian and 1 in the Palazzo. The one over by the food court in the Venetian can give up to 3 coins on a combination win. Thanks to Pat H.

New Casinos with Silver Strikes

The silver strike machines at the Venetian & Palazzo went in play today 05/01/2014 with (2) different clad house strikes a colorized blue cap and a .999 fine silver red cap. They also have a 6oz $300.00 strike for trade for (30) $10.00 strikes.

At the Venetian the Silver Strike Machine is located right next to The Food Court.

At the Palazzo the Silver Strike Machine is located right in the middle of the casino next to the Crap Tables.

Sue & Bill Cohenour were the 1st to play the Venetian machine and he should be sending in pictures in a couple days.

New Downtown Attraction

April 28, 2014 12:56 Slotzilla Launches: After multiple delays and postponements, the new mega-zip-line attraction on Fremont Street has opened, or at least the lower-level more sedate portion of Slotzilla has debuted; the higher, longer, faster "zoomlines" are expected to debut in coming weeks. The cost is $20 for the two zip-line and $30 for the zoomlines, which will see riders lying flat in harnesses "super-hero style" propelled 1,700 feet at speeds of up to 35 mph by a novel power-launch system. So far, we've been unable to ascertain the hours for this much-anticipated new thrill ride, but we do know that riders must weigh between 60 and 300 pounds and cannot be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

President's Message

Al Lukacs has been the Club Secretary and the Club Coin Committee Chairman for many years. Al has asked for an indefinite leave of absence from the Board of Directors, for personal reasons. The BOD and I greatly appreciate his dedication and hard work for the Club.

For the time being, I will be the primary contact for the Club. We are looking for a volunteer for Acting Secretary until Al can return to the Board.  We have our Annual Meeting coming soon so it is imperative that this important position is filled quickly. Please contact me if you are interested.

Thanks to the Coin Club Committee, the 2014 coin production and sales will continue as usual. You will note that we are now accepting PayPal for your coin purchase.

He will be missed!

Good Bye to a good friend of the Silver Strikers Club, Peter Van de Kar.  Peter had a massive heart attack on Monday March 3, 2014 Peter was a charter member and one of the first to help form this club, he was the first newsletter editor, and the first to win the club coin contest. Peter was also a member of CC&GTCC for many years and he and Lloyd had a silver strike table for many years of CC&GTCC convention. Many of our members have known Peter for years and there are so many memories, one of my special memory was at the Las Vegas Club at Carol's corner, there we all were playing those nickel slots machines, all 10 machines filled with Silver Strikers. There was so much laughter and fun people were coming over to see what was going on over in that corner. I hope the good memories fill your heart with love at the sad time.  Condolences to Lloyd and Peter's family.

Latest Strike News

The Mirage has ordered a new 6oz all silver $300.00 strike that should be available by tournament time.  There is also a new blue cap in the Mirage strike machines now and it is - Hyphen.

The Venetian & Palazzo are still working with Sunshine Mint on a $300.00 strike and a red & blue caps. They MAY have one of there house strikes ready by tournament time, Let's hope they do.

Nothing new to report on Sam's Town or the El Cortez.
